About Me

Hello, I’m Kathleen Sabourault, or Katie as I prefer. I’m finalizing my degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Auburn University (May 2025 graduation), and eager to start my career in primary care. I’m excited to share my journey, professional experiences, and aspirations through this portfolio. It’s a reflection of my commitment to providing exceptional patient care, and I’m thrilled to embark on this new chapter as I transition into the role of a Nurse Practitioner.

Currently, I’m a Registered Nurse at AdventHealth Orlando, where I’ve been part of the Obstetric Emergency Department and Labor and Delivery team for 5.5 years. In my role, I’m an active team member, serving as both a staff nurse and a relief charge nurse. I specialize in high-risk obstetrics, bringing over 10 years of experience to the table. My expertise includes working with labor and delivery, obstetric emergencies, neonatal resuscitation, and adult emergency center nursing. I’m also certified in C-EFM (Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring), maintaining up-to-date competencies across these areas to ensure the highest standard of care.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Florida (UNF). Prior to relocating to Orlando, I spent over five years living and working in Jacksonville, FL. Throughout my career, I’ve been honored to be a Daisy nominee and a Respectful Maternity Champion, and I’ve contributed to several unit projects aimed at improving patient care and outcomes.

As a healthcare provider, I pride myself on being personable, approachable, and driven by knowledge. I am passionate about providing patient-centered care and am committed to evidence-based practices. I’m eager to join a clinic that shares these values, where I can continue to learn and grow while becoming an integral part of the team. As a loyal team member, I’m always looking to contribute my best efforts and collaborate with colleagues to improve patient care.

In my professional journey, my goal is to build a strong foundation in family practice, focusing on honing my skills in patient care management and diagnostics. I’m excited to learn from experienced Nurse Practitioners and continue improving my clinical decision-making abilities. In the first six months of my role, I aim to independently manage at least 80% of my patient cases while maintaining a high level of clinic timeliness and patient satisfaction. I believe in striving for excellence, and I’m dedicated to continuous improvement in every aspect of my work.

Career Goals

1-Year

In a year, I hope to apply all the knowledge I've gained from this program at a clinic where I feel supported and can continue learning while caring for patients. Finding a balance between my professional growth and personal well-being is essential for my long-term success and happiness. My family is my priority, so I seek a clinic schedule that allows me to spend quality time with them.

As I work on expanding my skills and taking on leadership roles in healthcare, I recognize the importance of setting clear boundaries between work and my personal life to avoid burnout. By managing my time effectively, sharing responsibilities, and prioritizing self-care, I can maintain my emotional and physical health.

Ultimately, I find purpose in positively impacting my patients' lives and participating in innovations in healthcare. By balancing my professional duties with family life, I hope to enjoy a rewarding career while also embracing my personal life.

5-Year

In the next five years, my goal as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) is to become a confident, skilled, and compassionate healthcare provider while continuing to grow both in my career and personally. I also want to consider pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) to enhance my clinical skills and develop leadership abilities that can help advance healthcare.

A significant part of my vision involves teaching, whether mentoring future NPs or taking on academic roles to guide the next generation of healthcare professionals.
