Advocacy & Leadership
Advocating for Equity, Leading with Compassion, and Transforming Healthcare Through Collaboration.
Throughout my Nurse Practitioner program, I have exemplified advocacy, leadership, and accountability in both clinical and academic settings. I integrated ethical principles, cultural sensitivity, and equitable care into my practice, ensuring informed consent, addressing cultural beliefs, and advocating for patient autonomy. I remained mindful of biases, providing fair and compassionate care to diverse populations.
Through collaboration with preceptors such as Dr. Barbara Schwartz and Cynthia Bridges, APRN, I actively sought feedback to refine my skills and enhance evidence-based, patient-centered care. My clinical rotations—500+ hours in adult/geriatric care at clinics such as Altamonte Family Practice, 60 hours in pediatrics at Middleton Pediatrics, and 60 hours in women’s health at Radiance Women’s Center—strengthened my ability to deliver holistic, population-focused care. I maintained professionalism through empathy, effective communication, and adherence to best practices.
In leadership roles, I contributed to interprofessional teams, led SBAR case presentations, and facilitated care transitions to improve patient outcomes. I also advocated for NP scope-of-practice expansion and emphasized self-care as essential to personal and professional well-being.
Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, I tailored care to patients’ unique needs and fostered respectful healthcare environments. These efforts reflect my dedication to advancing the Nurse Practitioner role through ethical, inclusive, and evidence-based practice.
